Reba Place Church is Inclusive In Love, and celebrates our LGBTQ members and neighbors! Hooray, this banner, our first of six representing the values and aspects of our church identity, was installed on the west wall of the Meetinghouse at 620 Madison St in Evanston today! It's June, a time when many recognize the humanity, beauty, and positive contributions to society of folks who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, or Queer. We're so glad that we were able to complete this banner in time to install it this month.
We'll have an official dedication and celebration when all six banners are installed on the west wall. They were designed by artist and member Rob Larson and painted collaboratively by many of us in the community. The completed banners will represent our church's values of being: 1) Centered on Jesus Christ and the Kingdom of God and rooted in an Anabaptist tradition, 2) catholic in spirit, 3) charismatic in practice, 4) anti-racist in calling, 5) inclusive in love, and 6) committed to sharing the Good News. Take a walk in the neighborhood today to enjoy the artwork!
